Nashville SC threatened to make it back-to-back wins over FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium, but the expansion side couldn’t solve Jimmy Maurer and the teams settled for a 0-0 draw in a match that ended in the early morning hours Monday.
It was the second match in five days between the clubs in their regular season restart. David Accam scored late to lift Nashville SC to their first MLS win Wednesday night in Frisco.
Sunday’s match was delayed three-and-a-half hours due to severe weather in the Frisco area, but still had a lively first half.
Maurer was pressed to make a handful of quality saves to deny Alistair Johnston on his first MLS start and Randall Leal in quick succession just past the half-hour mark.
Anibal Godoy nearly punished FC Dallas for playing out of the back, pouncing on a turnover and again testing Maurer, who dived to his right to make another save.
The closest to a goal, though, came in the 64th minute, when Dom Badji was inches away from scoring against his former club but put his attempt off the post.
Accam came on in the 74th minute in an attempt to repeat his super-sub role Wednesday night. He picked off a Maurer clearance and lobbed toward the empty net from nearly midfield in stoppage time, but there would be no late strike of brilliance as the teams shared the points.

Three Things
- THE BIG PICTURE: Four points from their first two matches in five months from a pair of road games? Yeah, Nashville SC will take it, thank you very much. They were the more dangerous side throughout, but momentum shifted to FC Dallas late. As for the hosts, they’ll be a bit more concerned about just one point, though they looked better than they did Wednesday night.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: What a story this would have been. Back in Frisco after being traded from FC Dallas in December, Badji came this close to scoring a sweet, and memorable first goal for Nashville.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: Although a late clearance picked off by Accam nearly proved costly, Maurer was solid throughout, especially when Nashville SC were the livelier side in the first half. The veteran goalkeeper made seven saves to earn the clean sheet.
