The New England Revolution will try to extend an unbeaten streak to 10 matches and avenge an early-season loss to FC Cincinnati when the Eastern Conference foes square off at Nippert Stadium Sunday evening.
Gustavo Bou knows how to make a great first impression, scoring a stunning goal in his debut to help lead the Revs (7-8-6) to a 4-0 win win over the Vancouver Whitecaps Wednesday at Gillette Stadium. The Argentine's volley gave New England the lead in first-half stoppage time and Diego Fagundez, Carles Gil and Teal Bunbury added goals in the final eight minutes to complete the victory.
FC Cincinnati (5-13-2) were on the other end of a lopsided midweek defeat, falling to D.C. United, 4-1, at Audi Field Thursday. Emmanuel Ledesma equalized from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, cancelling out a first-half goal by Lucas Rodriguez. But Rodriguez added his second goal five minutes later and Wayne Rooney and Paul Arriola tacked on insurance tallies nine minutes apart to close out the comprehensive win.
In the first meeting this season, Kekuta Manneh and Kenny Saief scored a goal in each half to lead the expansion side to a 2-0 win at Gillette Stadium March 24.
