NEW YORK

– FC Cincinnati, who will make their Major League Soccer debut in 2019, today selected D.C. United forward
Darren Mattocks
as the top pick in the MLS Expansion Draft. Head coach Alan Koch and President and General Manager Jeff Berding were on hand to make the selections from the league’s headquarters in New York.
With the second selection, Cincinnati took forward
Kei Kamara
(Vancouver Whitecaps FC) and subsequently executed a trade that sent the player to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for an international roster slot for the 2019 season.
The final three selections included midfielder
Roland Lamah
(FC Dallas), midfielder
Eric Alexander
(Houston Dynamo) and defender
Hassan Ndam
(New York Red Bulls).
Mattocks is coming off one of his best MLS seasons in 2018 after tallying a career-high 10 goals for D.C. United during their impressive run to reach the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
Ivory Coast native Lamah netted eight goals along with a career-high six assists for FC Dallas this past season. Alexander had a goal and two assists in 20 games this year for Houston, while 20-year-old Ndam made his first MLS start with the Red Bulls this year among the club’s stacked defensive roster.
