Gyasi Zardes struck for an early brace and Pedro Santos added a third goal just after halftime to lift Columbus Crew SC to a 3-0 win over 10-man FC Cincinnati in the first #HellisReal match between the sides as MLS foes as part of 2019 MLS Preseason presented by Advocare Saturday night.
FCC played the final 61 minutes with 10 men after Roland Lamah was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Santos in front of the Crew SC bench.
Zardes opened his account just five minutes after kickoff, slotting a low strike inside the far post from 12 yards out.
Zardes added his second goal 15 minutes later, following his own headed attempt that deflected off an FCC defender and putting a left-footed attempt past Przemysław Tyton.
Santos capped the scoring two minutes into the second half, directing his attempt in off the far post.
The Carolina Challenge Cup match was the final preseason match for both teams. #MLSisBack begins for both on March 2 with Crew SC hosting the New York Red Bulls (4:30 pm ET | ESPN+) while FC Cincinnati meet the Seattle Sounders in their inaugural MLS match (10 pm ET | FS1, Fox Deportes)
