White Looks to Become Whitecaps All-Time Leading Scorer

Following his second career MLS hat trick last week – a performance that earned him MLS Player of the Matchday honors – Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Brian White ranks second on the club with eight goals this season and has 39 goals across 103 games with the club. He is currently on pace to record double-digit scores for the third time in four seasons with Vancouver.

With his next goal, White will break a tie with Camilo Sanvezzo and become the all-time leading scorer in the Whitecaps MLS history. Sanvezzo reached 39 career goals in 92 games with the club from 2011-13. White will look to make history as the club takes on Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field on Wednesday night 8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

Cincy Getting it Done Away from Home

On their quest to repeat as Supporters’ Shield champions, FC Cincinnati has once again found itself among the ranks of the best teams in MLS in 2024, as they currently sit in second place in both the Supporters’ Shield standings and Eastern Conference table with 42 points (13-4-3). Contributing to their excellent overall standing is a nearly unblemished 8-1-1 record away from TQL Stadium, including six consecutive road wins. Their eight road wins are also the most in MLS in 2024.

With a win against D.C. United at Audi Field on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), Cincinnati would tie 2022 CF Montréal as the only clubs to record at least seven consecutive road wins in a single season in MLS history (excluding the shootout era). Montréal won seven consecutive road matches from July 23 to October 9, 2022, en route to finishing second in the Eastern Conference that season.

All-Star Evander Eyes Double-Double

Earning his first career MLS All-Star nod earlier this week, Timbers midfielder Evander has been one of the primary catalysts for Portland’s current seven-match unbeaten run, totaling four goals and six assists over the span. The Brazilian star has taken his game to the next level in his second season with the club, recording nine goals and 11 assists in 17 matches.

With a goal against FC Dallas on the Fourth of July (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), Evander would join elite club company as just the third different player in Timbers history to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season. Club legend and current MLS Season Pass analyst Diego Valeri accomplished the feat on four occasions (2013-14, 2017-18), and Sebastián Blanco also achieved the milestone in 2018.

Miami Aims to Make Club History with Win

With their 2-1 victory over Nashville SC on Matchday 23, Inter Miami CF recorded their 13th win of the 2024 regular season, the second-most in a single season in club history and trailing only the 2022 season (14 wins). In 2022, the club won their 13th match in their 32nd match of the regular season, a feat they accomplished on Saturday night in only their 21st match of the 2024 season. Miami remains atop the league-wide table with 44 points (13-3-5) entering Matchday 24.

Against Charlotte FC on Wednesday evening (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), Miami can tie their single-season mark for wins in just their 22nd match of the season as they continue their quest to secure the first Supporters’ Shield in club history. The club went winless in two matches against Charlotte last season (0-1-1) and will look to buck that trend as they eye club history.

Vermes on Verge of 200 Wins

After claiming a 2-0 victory over Austin FC on Matchday 23, Sporting Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes sits on the verge of MLS history as the club takes on the Colorado Rapids on Thursday, July 4 (9:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

Vermes, the longest tenured head coach currently in MLS, will man the Sporting KC sideline for the 493rd time in regular season play, having logged 199 career victories over the span. With a victory over the Rapids, Vermes would become the third head coach in league history to win 200 regular season matches as a head coach, joining Bruce Arena (262) and Sigi Schmid (240). The New Jersey native’s 199 wins are 35 more than the next closest active head coach, Orlando City SC’s Óscar Pareja (164).
