Rodney Wallace will always be remembered by Portland Timbers thanks to his decisive goal in their 2015 MLS Cup triumph, but this week he provided stateside fans with a memento from abroad. And what a spectacular one it was.
After recently joining Brazilian Serie A side Sport Recife, the Costa Rican left winger has already made quite an impression, scoring a wondergoal off of what appeared to be a cross attempt. Take a look below:
While Wallace's intent is uncertain, the result was magical. There's a reason why he confidently took credit after the strike.
Wallace's goal helped spark Recife's 5-1 rout over Chapecoense, a big win for the side which is currently fighting relegation at 16th place. Chapecoense is in 11th and Recife's victory could be the start of a turnaround. If it is, they may have a certain MLS champion to thank.
