Former LA Galaxy utility man Bryan Jordan has joined the ranks of former MLSers with the San Antonio Scorpions. The NASL club announced on Monday that it has signed the 27-year-old.
Jordan (above, left) joins the Scorpions after failing to come to terms with the San Jose Earthquakes, who selected the longtime Galaxy man in last December’s Re-Entry Draft.
The Pasadena, Calif., native made 56 appearances for LA over the past five seasons, but never established himself as a regular in the squad. Jordan made a career-high 19 appearances in 2009, but saw his playing time diminish over time. He made just eight regular-season appearances last season.
He holds the distinction of being one of only four players on the Galaxy's 2012 MLS Cup-winning roster who were on the squad when Bruce Arena took over as head coach back in 2008. Along with Landon Donovan, David Beckham and Sean Franklin, Jordan went to three MLS Cup finals, winning two of them and securing two Supporters’ Shields along the way.
"We’re very happy and excited to have Bryan on board,” Scorpions head coach Tim Hankinson said in a statement. “He’s had over 50 games with MLS’ Galaxy. He’s one of our quickest and speediest players who’ll be able to fill in at the right-back and the right-midfield and even as a second forward.”
In San Antonio, Jordan joins a host of ex-MLSers, including Kevin Harmse, Greg Janicki, Pat Phelan and Blake Wagner. The Scorpions finished with the NASL’s best regular-season record in 2012.
Jordan and his new teammates report for preseason camp in April, and open the 2013 NASL spring season on April 6 at Minnesota.
