Matias Pellegrini, the young Argentinian attacker linked heavily with Inter Miami, is one step closer to becoming the club's first-ever signing.
Pellegrini's current club, Estudiantes, have released a statement saying the player has passed a medical with Inter Miami and returned to training with Estudiantes. He would stay in Argentina until the winter, linking up with Miami ahead of preseason in January.
The deal will reportedly approach $10 million, according to El Dia.
The 19-year-old has three goals and an assist over 15 appearances in league play this season, with the majority of his appearances coming at left wing. Pellegrini has been called up by the U-17 and U-20 Argentina national teams. In 2017, Pellegrini competed in the Generation adidas Cup with Estudiantes.
A report from The Miami Herald last week quoted sporting director Paul McDonough saying the club were "in contract negotiations with up to six or seven players."
