Armchair Analyst: One big question for LA Galaxy

One Big Question:Can they fix the defense?

So far it doesn't really seem like it? Maybe Julian Araujo will take a massive step forward and replace the error-prone Rolf Feltscher at right back, and maybe Emiliano Insua and Danilo Acosta can lock down left back, and if those two things happen then the Galaxy will be in a much better place, because both fullback slots were flaming train wrecks last year.

But with the Galaxy it wasn't just a personnel issue in 2019, it was a "where exactly are you going and what are you doing?" issue. I still can not wrap my head around this goal:

A lot of that really does come down to Zlatan's lack of defense – when the Galaxy pressed with eight they were actually pressing with seven, and when they were pressing with seven they were really pressing with six, etc. But I don't think that's all going to be solved by a new signing up top, even if it's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, and a few new signings at the back.

The Galaxy have to be a smarter and more compact defensive team. If they're not, then it probably won't matter how many goals Chicharito scores – they'll still be a cut below the best in the league.
