Enter the 7 v. 7 overnight tournament

If you are a MetroStars fan who wants to play in a World Cup-style soccer tournament and help a good cause, then the MetroStars 2nd annual 7 v. 7 Overnight Soccer Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society is exactly what you are looking for! The tournament will begin in Giants Stadium at 10:00 p.m. on June 25 and conclude at 6:00 a.m. on June 26. Last year, 30 teams participated and raised more than $10,500 for ACS cancer research. This year, the tourney is expanding to 48 teams with the hopes of doubling last year's donation.

Both competitive and recreational players are welcome, as there will be two separate divisions, the A Series and the B Series. Teams compete on a scaled-down version of the field at Giants Stadium in a World Cup format. The A Series and the B Series will have groups of four clubs and the top team from each group advances to the next round. The final teams will play in a single elimination play-down.

Registration for this year's tournament will be $80 a player, or $800 per team, as there is a maximum of 10 players per team. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Along with the entry fee, each team will receive 20 tickets to the MetroStars' July 9 game versus Los Angeles Galaxy.

Last year, More Fire Squad downed Weehawken Massive, 4-1, to claim the first annual Overnight Soccer Tournament title.
