England star Harry Kane donned a New England Patriots jersey and flashed his credentials as an NFL superfan on Sunday, attending Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of Atlanta United – and in the process visited his countryman, Five Stripes president Darren Eales.
The two men share a link: Eales’ previous gig was an executive role at Kane’s English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, and did not miss the chance to subject the 2018 World Cup golden boot winner to some witty banter:
Kane would get the last laugh. His Pats defeated the Los Angeles Rams to win their third league championship in the last five years, and the Spurs’ hero – who’s currently rehabbing an ankle injury – got to meet and pose with Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and the Vince Lombardi Trophy, as he enthusiastically documented on his social-media channels:
