HOUSTON DYNAMO 1, FC DALLAS 0
HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR
On the result:
"I think we weren't as smart with the ball; I think our movement off the ball was lacking. That comes from fatigue. The times we did have it we made mistakes. Our defending was a touch impatient. We let them kind of camp out in our half a little bit. We've defended great all year. This is only our third shutout, which is not indicative of how we've defended."
On adjusting for Robinson's suspension:
"Adrian [Serioux] is a logical choice for stepping in for Eddie [Robinson]. Adrian was playing great at the beginning of the season, but he's been hit with a little bit of an injury. When somebody gets pulled out because of injury or suspension it opens up an opportunity, so the logical explanation would be Adrian. We'll see how training goes this week."
On his hope for the second half of the season:
"Well I want to win everything. We're still in the Open Cup. I think we've claimed our first piece of artillery with 'El Capitan'. We don't play for cannons. We play for trophies but if that's a trophy we'll take it gladly. This is a step for the playoffs. My hope is to have many people come out and watch us play, for us to make the playoffs, and to win the Open Cup, stay healthy, and win the MLS Cup."
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER CRAIG WAIBEL
On the goal:
"It was a corner, and that's what I'm expected to do when I get open and get a head on it. I just finished it. Actually I thought I popped it over the bar so I was happy to see it hit the underside of it and go in."
On the FC Dallas-Houston rivalry:
It's hot, it's heated. It gets a lot more serious when both teams are good, and that's what it's come down to. It's great for the Western Conference that the two teams in Texas are both vying for the top spot as of this point in the season. It's in the players' eyes. There's a lot being said out there that people can't hear."
On the importance of the win:
"It's important. This could be the game we look back on and say, 'That was the turning point of getting over that unlucky streak when we were outplaying teams and losing.' This gives us a good building block to go off of and get some wins."
HOUSTON DYNAMO FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO
On the save:
"Well it's something we train on. When we have free kicks from the top of the box, Pat wants me to cover that space behind the wall. The ball got through the wall, and that's what I'm there for. I saw the ball coming to me, and I just got it out of danger."
On facing FCD again in U.S. Open Cup play:
"Open Cup setting is a little different. It's one game and you're done so you have to find a way to get through to the next round. It's one of those games where you have to take advantage of your opportunities so you can go to the next round."
On the upcoming road trip:
"I think we're one of the few teams in this league that whether we're home or on the road we come out with the same game plan. We try to pressure teams, we try to create opportunities to score goals, and we try to take advantage of those opportunities."
FC DALLAS HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE
On his team's performance:
"In the first half, we didn't do very well. In the second half we did pretty well. We had some good free kicks, but it just wouldn't go for us today. We had a lot of bad luck and it went Houston's way today."
FC DALLAS FORWARD RAMON NUNEZ
On the team's play in the second half:
"The second half we came out a little more aggressive. We had a goal hit the post and a couple of headers, but it just wasn't our night."
