Diego Fagundez voted Player of the Week after inspiring New England Revolution rout of LA Galaxy

Diego Fagundez celebrates New England's win over LA

Scoring a goal and assisting on two others is impressive in any game. Doing so against the defending MLS Cup champions? Even more so.

Diego Fagundez had himself quite the day at the office on Sunday, as he inspired the New England Revolution to a 5-0 mauling of the LA Galaxy at Gillette Stadium en route to capturing the MLS Player of the Week award for Week 14. (See how the North American Soccer Reporters voted here.)

Fagundez first set up Saer Sene's 33rd-minute goal, then had the helper on Lee Nguyen's strike in the 71st before capping off his banner day with a low shot three minutes from the end of regulation that made the score 3-0.

The 18-year-old Revolution attacker's performance continued his recent run of good from. He has now scored in four consecutive games for the club and has five goals on the year.

Fagundez is the first New England player to win the MLS Player of the Week award this season.
