D.C. United saw the quality in 21-year-old Lucas Rodriguez when they signed him to a Designated Player contract in the offseason from Estudiantes.
Everyone saw the quality in Week 3.
The former Argentina Under-20 national team player scored a stunner of a first goal in MLS, volleying home a Wayne Rooney corner kick for the fourth DC goal in a 5-0 rout of Real Salt Lake at Audi Field.
Rodriguez has started each of his three MLS matches, also registering an assist in DC's 2-0 opening week win vs. Atlanta United.
His first goal was special enough to him that he ran over to celebrate with his girlfriend, Lucia Kronig, who was in the stands.
