Two teams coming off Week 1 losses meet at Audi Field as D.C. United hosts Inter Miami CF for the first time Saturday afternoon.
D.C. United suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Colorado Rapids during Week 1, spoiling the club's 2020 home opener. Russell Canouse connected with a Julian Gressel corner kick and headed past Clint Irwin in the 60th minute. That lead held up until the 67th minute, when Kei Kamara powered a header past Bill Hamid off a driven Jack Price cross. Second-half substitute Jonathan Lewis scored the stoppage-time winner for Colorado.
The Inter Miami era was ushered in at Banc of California, where the expansion side fell to LAFC, 1-0, in their first-ever match Sunday. If not for the stellar play of goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer, Inter Miami may have scored their first goal and secured at least a point. But both Matias Pellegrini and Nicolas Figal were denied by the Dutch veteran before Carlos Vela's audacious chip just before halftime stood as the game's lone goal.
