D.C. United midfielder Russell Canouse is expected to be sidelined for 3-6 weeks after suffering a small pneumothorax (collapsed lung) to his left lung during the second half of a 0-0 draw against the Chicago Fire last Saturday.
Canouse was transported to Rush Hospital in Chicago where he had the pneumothorax drained. He was observed in the hospital for two nights and was discharged Monday. He arrived back in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Canouse has started 20 of 21 games for D.C. United this season.
