TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Transfer and trade
D.C. United have acquired Norweigan international Ola Kamara from Chinese side Shenzhen F.C. for a $2.5 million fee, the club announced Wednesday. The club first had to acquire the No. 1 spot in the 2019 Allocation Ranking from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for $200,000 General Allocation Money.
Kamara, 29, moved to China from the LA Galaxy just before the season started. He made just six appearances for Shenzhen.
"We are extremely excited to acquire a dynamic attacking talent in Ola Kamara," D.C. GM and VP of Soccer Operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. "He has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in MLS during his three years with the Crew and Galaxy and he will be a key offensive piece for us as we look towards the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs and beyond. Ola will add athleticism to our front line along with his intelligent off the ball movement and innate finishing ability. We're looking forward to integrating Ola to the team and having him on the field in this important stretch of the season."
Kamara scored 48 goals in 90 appearances across three seasons in MLS with Columbus Crew SC and the Galaxy.
It's been a whirlwind to close the Secondary Transfer Window for D.C. United. The club have confirmed that Wayne Rooney will depart after this season then acquired Emmanuel Boateng and Felipe.
