It’s not often that seven-goal thrillers come around in MLS, but that’s exactly what happened on March 19, 2016 at Red Bull Arena when the New York Red Bulls grabbed a 4-3 win over the Houston Dynamo.
The star of the day was Felipe, a Brazilian midfielder who’s now in his second season with D.C. United. He powered home two right-footed curlers in the second half, starting with a long-range blast in the 77th minute. Felipe then followed up with a sumptuous free kick in the 83rd minute, sealing the early-season victory.

As much as Felipe stole the show, the game also featured a brace from forward Will Bruin, who now plays on the Seattle Sounders. Bruin capitalized on two RBNY miscues at the back, beating Luis Robles with a pair of clever finishes.
If that wasn’t enough, the game also included a goal from RBNY midfielder Sacha Kljestan during a campaign in which he posted a league-leading 20 assists. There were also tallies from Mike Grella, a RBNY fan favorite, and Alex, a Brazilian midfielder who spent six years in MLS.
