Entering his 10th season with the club, David Silva's decade at Manchester City has been successful beyond the club's dreams when he was acquired in 2010.
City, recently backed by considerable investment following a takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group, hadn't won England's top tier since 1967-68, have since won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups. Along the way, the Spaniard has made 396 appearances across all competitions, with 71 goals and 129 assists to his name. He has twice been named to the Premier League's Best XI and was named Manchester City's Player of the Season in 2016-17.
But, all good things come to an end. Silva announced the upcoming 2019-'20 season will be his last with Pep Guardiola's side, the 33-year-old seeking a new challenge. Speculation that his future may be in MLS has already begun, with Inter Miami and Orlando City SC two clubs linked for his services.
Here are four clubs that could prove to be ideal landing spots for Silva in MLS:
Inter Miami
A team with three vacant Designated Player spots and boundless ambition, Miami are unsurprisingly in this conversation.
Silva is the type of player to build a team around. His game has never relied on athleticism, suggesting he should age gracefully. With box-to-box central midfielders around him and full carte blanche to create, there's no telling the type of numbers he could produce.
Also: Miami sporting director Paul McDonough has been on the record multiple times saying he will not sign just one superstar. If that's the route Inter choose to pursue, expect another big name to accompany Silva.
NYCFC
Silva has a connection with NYCFC head coach Dome Torrent, who was an assistant at Manchester City from 2016-18. Not to mention Manchester City and NYCFC are both owned by City Football Group.
NYCFC play a possession-based style of soccer, just like City has during much of Silva's time at the club. They, too, wear light blue.
How much fun would it be to see Silva combining with Maxi Moralez around the 18-yard box? They would need to free up a DP spot, though.
Seattle Sounders
As if the attack isn't stacked enough with Raul Ruidiaz, Nico Lodeiro, Victor Rodriguez and Jordan Morris.
Another team that often dominates possession, Silva's best assets would translate to great effect. The Sounders could free up a DP spot to make it happen, too.
LA Galaxy
Who knows if Zlatan Ibrahimovic will play a third season with the Galaxy, but if he does, what a tandem Silva and Zlatan would be.
If he doesn't, then there may be another high-profile attacker around the club for Silva to combine with. Rumors suggest the club are intent on acquiring Argentine international Cristian Pavon.
