FC Dallas finished the first month of their MLS season in emphatic fashion on Saturday, as they headed into the nation's capital and made light work of D.C. United.
Dallas scored twice in the first half to cruise to a 3-0 win over a D.C. United team that finished with 10 men at RFK Stadium. Michael Barrios bagged a brace inside the first 28 minutes of the match, and Maximiliano Urruti added an insurance goal early in the second stanza.
D.C. United struggled to create clear quality chances throughout the game, but had a golden look via a penalty kick in the 65th minute. Fabian Espindola took a poor attempt from the spot that was saved, however, and Marcelo Sarvas was sent off with a straight red card just seconds later.
The result improved FC Dallas to 3-1-0 on the year, and kept D.C. United winless at 0-2-2.
