Crew signs Columbus native Chris Leitch to contract, Jed Zayner place on season-ending injured reserve

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Crew announced today that it has signed defender Chris Leitch to a contract. Per league and team policies, contract terms are not disclosed.

The Crew did not have to waive a player to create a roster spot for Leitch due to placing rookie defender Jed Zayner on season-ending injured reserve. Leitch's rights were initially acquired by The Crew on March 28 as part of the Eddie Gaven for Edson Buddle trade with New York. </p>

"It's nice to come back home," said Leitch. "Obviously I grew up following the team and I am glad to be a part of the organization again. I just want to come in and work hard and help out any way I can." </p>

"It's good to have Chris with our team," said Crew Head Coach Schmid. "He is a player with MLS experience and is a local boy. And he comes with a great attitude every day."</p>
