Could the first big name to cross the new MLS divide in Los Angeles be Robbie Keane?
It could happen, according to a report from SI.com's Grant Wahl on Thursday, though not in the playing capacity for which some fans might hope.
Instead, Wahl writes: "A well-connected LA source says to keep an eye on Keane as a potential coach for the team. Keane has been working on his coaching badges and has already said he’d like to manage at the pro level, potentially in the United States. Keane and his wife love LA."
Additionally, Wahl reports Keane and LAFC co-owner and president Tom Penn were neighbors until recently and have become friends as a result. An LAFC spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Keane and Penn were indeed neighbors.

With LAFC expected to enter MLS play in 2018, would Keane then be available as a coach? An LA Galaxy spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that as matters currently stand, it would be possible for Keane to move to the new neighbors by that starting date.
Keane joined the Galaxy in August 2011 and has helped lead the club to three MLS Cup titles. He has scored 73 goals and notched 43 assists in the MLS regular season, and was named MLS MVP and MLS Cup MVP in 2014, and has earned three MLS Best XI selections.
