Though the 22-year-old striker played just five games across all competitions during his rookie year for the Montreal Impact, Porter earned a new contract with the Canadian side, the club announced Sunday. A knee injury in New England during his second MLS game sidelined him for the remainder of the season, but not before he scored a momentous March 3 stoppage-time goal to push the Impact past Pachuca and into the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
That strike was eventually named one of the 20 Most Remarkable Moments in Quebec TV. In a review of the year in Canadian club football, CanadaSoccer.com described it as "the best-celebrated goal on the Canadian calendar, with 38,104 fans sent into an unimaginable frenzy."

Drafted in the 3rd Round (No. 45 overall) of the 2015 SuperDraft, the former Princeton graduate officially joined the first team on February 7, after impressing the coaching staff during training camp. The 2014 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, Porter tallied 31 goals – 15 during his senior season – and 13 assists during four years in the Ivy League.
