Federico Higuaín may not have seen the Columbus Crew come out victorious this past weekend, but he did earn Week 11's MLS Player of the Week award for his masterful outing vs. the Portland Timbers.
The Argentine maestro enjoyed a two-goal, one-assist performance in the Crew's 3-3 draw vs. the Timbers this past Saturday, and that led to him being voted the MLS Player of the Week on Monday. Higuaín claimed eight votes to win the award, while New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen finished in second place with four. (See how the NASR members voted here.)
Higuain, the first Crew player to win the honors in 2014, began his latest impressive showing by scoring a beautiful chipped effort from distance that is up for Week 11's MLS Goal of the Week. He then scored from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time before setting up a late go-ahead goal from Ethan Finlay that was canceled out moments later.
