Defender Josh Williams scored in his first match in nearly a month, and Columbus Crew SC defeated Deportivo Saprissa 2-0 in a friendly at MAPFRE Stadium on Tuesday night.
Gyasi Zardes hit the opener for Columbus, which agreed to a shortened 60-minute game against the Costa Rican side known as El Monstruo Morado, or the Purple Monster after pregame weather delays.
Williams added his goal off a set piece in his return from injury early in the second 30-minute stretch.
Columbus currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings after a 2-1 home victory over Real Salt Lake last weekend. Crew SC travel to the StubHub Center to face the LA Galaxy on Saturday (10:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
