Alex Muyl scored early in the second half to help the New York Red Bulls grind out a 1-1 away draw against Columbus Crew SC despite defending for most of the game on Saturday.
Gyasi Zardes scored his 10th goal of the season early for Columbus, which outshot New York 18-11 overall and 15-2 in the first half.
But wasteful finishing by Columbus, five saves from Luis Robles and a pair of shots against the woodwork conspired to help the Red Bulls keep their deficit at only a goal entering halftime.
Muyl headed Marc Rzatkowski's free kick beyond goalkeeper Jon Kempin early in the second half to cap the Red Bulls' best stretch of the day. Columbus regained control of proceedings for the final half-hour, but failed to create quality chances.

that felt like a win, this will feel like a defeat for a Columbus side that could've moved into second into the Eastern Conference standings with a victory. Still, coach Gregg Berhalter's men extended their unbeaten stretch to nine matches.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH:
While there were two goals, the turning point of the game may have been them, when Columbus missed numerous chances to extend their advantage. None were more frustrating for the hosts than when a scrambling Robles recovered to deny Zardes from close range.
