TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Roster update
The Colorado Rapids parted company with midfielder Bismark Adjei "Nana" Boateng on Friday, player and club mutually agreeing to terminate his contract, allowing Boateng "to return to Europe to deal with a family issue," according to a club release.
“We would like to thank Nana for his service to the Rapids over the two-and-a-half years he was in Colorado,” Rapids executive VP and GM Padraig Smith said in a statement. “We understand this is a difficult moment for the player and we felt that at this time, it was in the best interest of Nana, his family and the club to find a solution that allowed Nana to return home. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”
Boateng, 25, signed with the Rapids in January 2017 from Manchester City, who'd loaned him out to Norwegian side Strømsgodset for several seasons. The box-to-box midfielder made 38 regular-season appearances for the Mile High Club across the past three years, scoring one goal and two assists, and did not see MLS action this season.
