The Colorado Rapids picked up an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo this past weekend, and DeShorn Brown played a big part in helping make that happen.
Brown scored twice, including the opener in the fifth minute, to pace the Rapids to an impressive home victory on Sunday, and on Monday he was named Week 13's MLS Player of the Week as a result. The second-year forward became the first Rapids player to claim the honor this season, beating out Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Pedro Morales by a 5-3 margin. (See how the NASR members voted here.)
Brown found the back of the net for his third goal of the season in the opening stages of the match when he headed home a Marvell Wynne cross. The Jamaican international further discouraged the Dynamo in the 35th minute, getting on the end of a pass from Dillon Powers before shooting past Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall.
