TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension
The Colorado Rapids and center back Auston Trusty have agreed to a new contract, the club announced Wednesday. The deal runs through 2023.
Trusty, 22, joined the Rapids via a trade from his hometown club Philadelphia Union last offseason and made eight appearances (five starts) in his first campaign with Colorado. The center back made 56 appearances with Philly between 2018-19, including playing every minute of the 2018 season.
“We’re delighted to announce a new contract for Auston,” Rapids EVP & GM Pádraig Smit said in a club statement. “Auston is a young, talented defender who has already proven himself in MLS and shown tremendous potential. We look forward to seeing his continued development over the coming years.”
The news comes shortly after Colorado re-signed defensive anchor Lalas Abubakar to a new contract.
Colorado made the playoffs in 2020 before falling to Minnesota United in Round One. The club head to 2021 with an overwhelming majority of their core returning from last season.
