The Colorado Rapids on Sunday acquired an international roster spot from D.C. United that’ll last through the 2020 and 2021 seasons. In exchange, Colorado sent D.C. $200,000 in 2021 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $25,000 in conditional 2022 GAM.
Colorado open their MLS is Back Tournament Sunday night (10:30 pm ET | ESPN, ESPN Deportes in US; TSN in Canada) against Real Salt Lake. As for D.C., they’ll play their first Group C game Monday morning (9 am ET | ESPN2, ESPN Deportes in US; TSN and TVA Sports in Canada) against Toronto FC after that match was initially postponed.
Colorado and D.C. played on Matchday 1 of the 2020 season, with the former grabbing a 2-1 win at Audi Field via a late Jonathan Lewis goal.
