TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
FC Cincinnati executed the first of what could be quite a few draft-week transactions on Wednesday, completing a trade with LAFC that sends $175,000 in General Allocation Money and LAFC’s natural first-round selection (No. 16 overall) in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft to Cincinnati in exchange for FCC’s natural fourth-round selection (No. 73 overall) in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and its initial 2020 Allocation Ranking.
The 2020 Allocation Ranking portion of the trade is only applicable if Cincy are outside the top five with respect to the initial Allocation Ranking Order. Should FCC be within the top five, the Allocation Ranking portion of the trade will shift to 2021.
The transaction leaves FCC with five selections in Friday’s SuperDraft in Chicago, including the No. 1 overall selection and four selections within the first 30 picks. LAFC now hold the 40th, 64th and 73rd overall picks.
While it hasn’t been officially reflected in this trade, MLSsoccer.com’s Sam Stejskal reports that this deal might include a behind-the-scenes handshake agreement with regards to last month’s Expansion Draft, where Cincy did not select any LAFC players:
