Christian Pulisic can’t stop scoring.
The US men’s national team star found net for Chelsea for the second time in five days, this time scoring in the 36th minute to open the scoring in a 2-1 victory over Manchester City that handed the Premier League title to Liverpool FC.
It was an incredible solo effort, as Pulisic capitalized on miscommunication after a Kevin De Bruyne free kick, beat Benjamin Mendy in open space and tucked a right-footed curler into the far-side netting past Ederson. He accelerated multiple times and showed top-class close control.
Pulisic could've had another goal or two in the second half as well, as he put together a terrific performance for the Blues before being subbed out in stoppage time. His closest call came in the 71st minute after he got around the 'keeper, only to see his slow rolling effort cleared off the line at the very last second. He was also involved in the goal-line scramble that led to the game-winner, with Man City's Fernandinho eventually conceding the decisive penalty and earning a red card after a number of Chelsea players, including Pulisic, tried to stab the ball over the line.
The 22-year-old Pulisic came up huge for Chelsea last weekend, too, equalizing in their eventual 2-1 win over Aston Villa. He now has seven goals and two assists in 18 Premier League appearances this season.
Pulisic was previously on a tear last October and November, scoring five goals across a three-match span. Perhaps he's discovered a similar run of form.
