CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA dropped a 2-1 decision to the newly rechristened Houston Dynamo today at The Home Depot Center's University Field, in the Red-and-White's eighth scrimmage of the 2006 preseason. The game was played in two halves of 35 minutes each.
The Texans went up 1-0 in the 29th minute thanks to a goal by Brian Ching on a right-footed shot from 15 yards. Juan Pablo García put Chivas USA on the board in the 67th minute, beating Houston keeper Pat Onstad with a freekick from nearly 40 yards out. But one minute latter, Alejandro Moreno, assisted by Brian Ching inside the box, scored the winning goal with a short range, right-footed shot.
Chivas USA next hosts the Chicago Fire on Saturday at 10:00 at The Home Depot Center.
And on Sunday, the entire team will be present at 'ChivaBono Fest 2006', a special celebration for fans of the Red-and-White from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. The event will feature live music, raffles, prizes, contests, Chivas USA players and the 2006 ChivaGirls squad. Entry is free, and fans who purchase a Chivas USA 2006 five-game ticket pack or better will be able to meet the team at an exclusive ticket holders reception starting at 1:30 p.m.
