CARSON, Calif. — Since Seattle joined MLS at the start of the 2009 season, they have managed a regular-season win against every team in the league but one.
Chivas USA stand alone as the only side in MLS never to have suffered a defeat to the Sounders during regular-season play.
The Goats are 2-0-2 against Seattle and have yet to even concede a goal to their rivals to the north. The team will be looking to continue that streak on Friday, when it travels north to battle Sigi Schmid & Co.

“We’re feeling great right now,” midfielder Sal Zizzo said. “We’re playing like we have nothing to lose. We haven’t stopped trying at all. Everyone is still going 100 percent.”
Chivas are coming off a 3-0 victory over Toronto FC last weekend that has boosted the team’s confidence ahead of the clash with Seattle.
“Toronto was a game that we had talked about playing for unity,” Zizzo said. “Now we’re going to try and play against Seattle and get two wins in a row.”
Seattle are enjoying a five-game unbeaten streak that has helped them secure a playoff spot for the second consecutive year. Defeating them at Qwest Field will be no easy task.
“Seattle are very good,” Zizzo said. “They have good attackers and they’re solid. They’re going to try and play well into the playoffs. It’s going to be a good game.”
Chivas were eliminated from the 2010 postseason after a 2-1 loss to the LA Galaxy in the SuperClásico on Oct. 3. Since then, the team has committed itself to building for next season by continuing to play for wins in their final matches of the year.
“In all sports, momentum definitely carries over to the next season,” Zizzo said. “It’s huge. All of us want to end on a good note and go into next year positively.”
