Chivas USA announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired midfielder Gabriel Farfan from the Philadelphia Union in exchange of Chivas USA's first natural SuperDraft pick in 2014 and allocation money. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Farfan, 24, joins Chivas USA with three seasons of experience in Major League Soccer, all of them with the Union. Previous to joining the league, the San Diego native played collegiate soccer at Cal State Fullerton from 2006-07, where he appeared in 16 games (15 starts), notched one goal, added two assists and earned Second-Team All-Big West honors.

At the international level, Farfan had a two-year Residency with the United States U-17 national team in Bradenton, Fla.
He has primarily played as a left back in Philadelphia, but has also seen time at right back and both midfield flanks. His twin brother, Michael, starts in the Union midfield.
Farfan will be eligible for selection to head coach José Luis "El Chelís" Sánchez Solá in Chivas USA’s upcoming match against Real Salt Lake on Sunday.
