The Chivas de Guadalajara Under-20 Team announced the list of players that will travel to Chicago to take on the MLS Homegrown Team in the 2017 MLS Homegrown Game presented by Energizer on Tuesday, August 1 (7 pm ET; Univision Deportes, Facebook in US | MLS LIVE in Canada)

The defending Liga MX Under-20 champions, Chivas U-20’s roster is highlighted by defenders Diego Cortés and Juan Aguayo, and midfielder Kevin Magaña, who all played for Mexico at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Both Cortés and Magaña also played for Mexico’s fourth-place team at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Goalkeeper Antonio Torres and midfielder Erich Hernandez also competed for Mexico in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates. Midfielder Rubén Domínguez will make his second appearance in the MLS Homegrown Game after participating in 2016 as a member of Mexico’s U-20 National Team.

MLS Homegrown Team coaches Brian McBride and Mike Magee named a talented 18-man roster earlier this month, highlighted by US mens national team goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez (FC Dallas), Canada national team midfielder Alphonso Davies (Vancouver Whitecaps) and five players who represented the U.S. at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The MLS Homegrown Game presented by Energizer provides an annual platform in which to showcase MLS’s premier young talent and demonstrate the growth of the league’s youth development system. This year’s match highlights the top young players in North America, with the best in the U.S. and Canada facing against some of the top players in Mexico’s Liga MX. MLS academies continue to attract and cultivate topflight prospects and have now produced over 170 Homegrown Players who have signed professional contracts with MLS clubs.
