Manchester United’s Javier “Chicharito” Hernández suffered what was termed as a “mild concussion” in training on Tuesday and spent the night in a local hospital, according to the club's website.
Though he was ruled out of the All-Star Game, manager Sir Alex Ferguson told reporters that Chicharito had been released from hospital.
The Mexican striker, who scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils last season — his first in England — and then led Mexico to a Gold Cup triumph over the US earlier this summer, had only recently joined United on their preseason tour of MLS. He was expected to see some playing time against the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday, but his preseason debut is now in doubt pending further announcement from the club. United are scheduled to face Barcelona this Saturday, July 30.
Coincidentally, Chicharito began his United career in the 2010 All-Star game, capping off Man. United’s scoring in a 5-2 Red Devils’ win.
