BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Chicago Fire forward Dominic Oduro hasn’t scored more than a goal in one game in awhile.
The speedy Ghanaian broke out last season by scoring 12 goals for the Fire, but surprisingly, he has only one multi-goal game in his career, which came all the way back in 2008 when he played for FC Dallas. He’s also never scored in three straight games.
Oduro scored his second goal in two games against Philadelphia last Saturday, but he had at least two opportunities he knows he could have – and probably should have – finished to register his first multi-goal game with the Fire.

“It just happens,” Oduro told MLSsoccer.com. “Even in the Philly game, I could’ve had one, but the goalie made a great save, and on the other one the defender was right there.”
Sunday may be the perfect opportunity accomplish both of those feats when the Fire head to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to play Colorado (7 pm ET, Galavision). The Rapids are coming off their worst outing of the season, a 4-1 loss in New York in which Thierry Henry scored two goals and Kenny Cooper added his own brace.
But Oduro’s strike partner, Patrick Nyarko, doesn’t necessarily think Colorado’s loss in New York indicates much in the grand scheme of things.
“It can go either way,” Nyarko told MLSsoccer.com. “They can be so hurt that they come out and play lights out. Obviously they have flaws, too. In this league, that’s the parity we all have.
“One weekend, it can go terribly wrong, and the other weekend, they’re playing at home, one of the toughest places to play in this league.”

Oduro noticed the flaws in the Rapids' defense of the Red Bulls last week. But he said he’s not holding his breath that those mistakes repeat themselves. If they do, he’ll certainly be ready to go after his third goal in three games with an eye on even more.
“I think they were just a little bit flat in terms of defending,” Oduro told MLSsoccer.com. “The defense is so quick. It’s really hard to get past those guys because they stick together in the back.”
In Marvell Wynne, the Rapids have one of the only defenders in the league who can challenge Oduro in a footrace.
“He’s quick to cover his mistakes,” Oduro said. “That’s what helps him out a lot. But I believe I’m quicker, so we’ll see.”
As for his multi-goal game drought, Oduro thinks that statistic will prove to be an anomaly in the long run.
“Sometimes you get lucky a little bit,” he said. “I’ll say I’m a little bit unlucky. But I’ll make it happen.”
