After another loss in midweek at the New York Red Bulls, the Chicago Fire were looking for anything positive on Saturday afternoon. They got it with a 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday at Toyota Park which stopped a six-game winless streak.
The victory was just the Fire's second of 2016, with the first win coming back on April 2 against the Philadelphia Union. The game-winner came early on, when Gilberto played a no-look through-ball to a streaking Arturo Alvarez. The Salvadoran nicked it over onrushing Houston goalkeeper Tyler Deric for his first goal in a Fire uniform, dealing the Dynamo a league-high seventh loss.

- MONKEY OFF THEIR BACK: It's proven a rough start for the new regime in Chicago, with the Fire just winning once in their first 10 opportunities entering Saturday's match. They were able to put another win in the books, thanks to a defense that continues to play well, conceding just 13 goals in 11 games.
- GILBERTO GOALLESS, BUT DANGEROUS: The Fire's Designated Player striker has yet to score this season, but he showed just how dangerous he can be. His assist on Alvarez's goal was sensational and he was threatening in attack all day, taking eight shots and creating two chances.
- INJURY TO INSULT: US national team legend DaMarcus Beasley was partly to blame on the lone goal of the game, as he failed to clear Gilberto's pass before it reached Alvarez. Beasley was then forced to leave the game in the 13th minute after aggravating a previous injury.
