You know those boards the fourth referee holds up during a substitution or when he's announcing the amount of stoppage time? Well they are getting an upgrade.
At an event announcing a partnership that will make TAG Heuer the official watch and official timekeeper of MLS, the company unveiled a new substitution board that will be used by fourth referees across the league in 2016. You can see the new boards above.
“If you look at the substitution board, many years ago we used to have something that looked like it was held up at a high school basketball game,” Garber said at a media event announcing the partnership. “Now we have a state of the art substitution and time device with a great brand.”
A new Connected Watch was also unveiled and the new smart watch will be used by PRO referees during all MLS games in 2016.
