While battling for playoff position on their home fields over the weekend, Atlanta United and LAFC each also hosted a star from the music world.
Singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor was the latest honorary falconer for LAFC before Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, joining a star-studded list of guests of honor for the pregame ritual that includes Will Ferrell, Danny Trejo and Sophia Bush.
“There’s so much passion. It’s so exciting,” Trainor told LAFC.com. “I feel like I’m a part of a new family.”
Meanwhile, hip-hop icon Lil Wayne celebrated his son’s 10th birthday with a trip to the Benz, taking in Atlanta’s 2-1 win over Chicago Fire.
Decked out in Five Stripes gear, Dwayne Michael Carter III, also known as Lil Tuney, met goalkeeper Brad Guzan and got a birthday shoutout on the video boards. After the game, he even got the chance to play on the field.
