The rough start to the season continues for David Monsalve’s AC Oulu over in Finland. The former Toronto FC and FC Edmonton goalkeeper played in a 1-0 loss to Ilves on Saturday that’s left Oulu with just nine points from eight games played. Fellow Canadian Dominic Oppong went 72 minutes, picking up a yellow card.
Elsewhere in Finland, it was a clash of former teammates as Charlie Trafford’s new club, KuPS, prevailed over his old club, IFK Mariehamn, by a score of 4-0 on Sunday. Trafford played the full 90 for KuPS, while Roger Thompson (above left, playing for Canada's U-20s) went the distance for Mariehamn.
Also getting into that match, and making his first appearance for KuPS, was 21-year-old striker Michael Cox, formerly of FC Edmonton. The Calgary native came on in the 63rd minute.
Over in Singapore, teammates Sherif El-Masri and Jordan Webb both went the full 90 for Young Lions in a 0-0 draw with Geyland International on Monday.
