Orlando City SC have already done what’s never been done in the club’s history by clinching a berth in the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
And just as the Lions say punching their playoff ticket is far from the limit of their ambitions, Calen Carr said on Monday's Extratime there’s reason to believe in those heightened expectations come the postseason.
With Oscar Pareja’s guidance, Nani’s leadership and big-game ability, their run to the MLS is Back Tournament Final, consistent play throughout the regular season and the emergence of a true No. 9 in rookie Daryl Dike, Carr is leading the charge for Orlando as a legit MLS Cup contender.
"They have a real chance in the playoffs to make a deep run and potentially win it all," Carr said.
“I think in a one-off situation when you look at the leadership they have, the experience and just the style of play, they’re able to play a bunch of different ways where they can really dominate the ball and keep possession, they can also make it hard on teams, they’re a tough team to play against. They’ve got good goalkeeping. They’re pretty sound throughout and they’ve got a couple big difference-makers that can hurt you and the one difference I would say emerged since that MLS is Back Tournament has been Dike.”
