Bronx blues: DC United's Yankee Stadium woes continue

With its snug confines and talented home side, Yankee Stadium can be a tough place for any visiting team. But it’s been a particular house of horrors for D.C. United.

With Sunday’s 4-0 whipping at the hands of New York City FC, the Black-and-Red are now 0-3 all-time at The House That Ruth Built, with three goals scored and a whopping 10 allowed in those three games.

D.C. lost 3-1 on their first visit to the Bronx, on Aug. 13, 2015, and fell 3-2 in their only visit last season, on Sept. 1. David Villa has been United’s main tormentor, bewitching their defenders with his movement and scoring four goals and three assists over those three matches.

El Guaje has also bagged two goals against D.C. at RFK Stadium. Overall, NYCFC are now 4-2 all-time against United, netting 14 goals and conceding eight.

The good news for D.C.: Sunday marks their only league visit to Yankee Stadium this season.
