It’s a two-horse race for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week for Week 17, and the polls are still open to have your say.
But there will have to be a serious push to unseat the current leader.
FC Dallas’ Tesho Akindele’s Julian-Green-like flying scissor-kick finish past Zach McMath in their 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union has garnered 68.7 percent of the vote, leading Chivas USA’s Erick “Cubo” Torres’ spectacular bicycle-kick goal to beat the Montreal Impact at the death.
Torres’ wonder strike has pulled in 15.6 percent of the vote.
There’s still time for the other goals to make some noise, too.
Vancouver Whitecaps’ Sebastien Fernandez’s belter past Stefan Frei has racked up 8.03 percent of the vote. Diego Valeri of the Portland Timbers has received 4.76 percent for his rocket past Jaime Penedo.
And D.C. United’s Nick DeLeon and his slalom-like effort and devastating finish past Joe Bendik has brought in 2.91 percent of the vote.
If you want to help elect a clear winner, there's still time! Make your pick by casting a ballot for your favorite goal before voting ends! The winner is determined by the total number of votes cast online and will be announced on Friday.
Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week — including an archive of all of this season's nominees and winners — click here.
