A year after a heartbreaking defeat in the semifinals to eventual champion Chivas de Guadalajara, the New York Red Bulls begin their quest for Concacaf Champions League glory when they take on Caribbean champions Atletico Pantoja in Santo Domingo Wednesday in the first leg of the 2019 CCL Round of 16.
While a replacement for Tyler Adams, who transferred to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, remains the pressing question, the Red Bulls successfully strengthened their depth at every position, giving them a chance to compete for multiple championships this season.
