TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Atlanta United have agreed to a deal with first-round SuperDraft selection Anderson Asiedu, the club announced Friday. Asiedu was selected with the No. 24 overall pick.
Asiedu, 22, starred at the University of California, Los Angeles and Monmouth University during his college career, was named to the All-Pac 12 Conference team twice.
“After a good college career, we targeted Anderson in the SuperDraft as a midfielder who could immediately compete at a high level,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. “He’s proven that during preseason and he’s earned a spot on our roster.”
On Thursday night, Asiedu watched as two of the club's 2017 SuperDraft selections, Miles Robinson and Julian Gressel, play major roles in Atlanta's 4-0 win over Herediano.
The club kick off their MLS campaign on Sunday against D.C. United (6 pm ET | ESPN, ESPN Deportes; TSN2).
