A 14th minute goal by Andrew Carleton gave Atlanta United all the distance it needed against the Charleston Battery on Wednesday night, but Ezequiel Barco and Romario Williams combined to deliver a 3-0 U.S. Open Cup win at Fifth Third Bank in Kennesaw, Georgia on Wednesday night.
Carleton's well-struck shot—his first goal with the ATL first team—looked like it might be the first of several first-half goals, but the USL visitors hung tough to the halftime whistle. But less than two minutes after the break, Williams drew a penalty in the box, which Barco converted to double the lead. Barco returned the favor in the 64th minute, assisting on the Jamaican forward's goal.
