The future of former Red Bulls defender and US International Tim Ream rests with a club many Americans have previously represented.
Fulham announced on Thursday that it has signed Ream to a 4-year deal with an option for a fifth following his transfer from Bolton Wanderers. The fee for the 27-year-old Ream was not disclosed.
Along with current midfielder Emerson Hyndman, Ream joins the likes of Clint Dempsey, Carlos Bocanegra, Brian McBride, and Kasey Keller as US players to suit up for the Cottagers.
"The biggest thing was the history, walking into the training ground and feeling the vibe around the club and the success that previous American players have had here,” Ream told FulhamFC.com.
Ream, who recently played for the US Men's National Team at the Gold Cup, leaves Bolton after 3 1/2 seasons there. He made a total of 126 appearances for the club, and was named the Player of the Season in each of the past two years.
A week ago, it seemed as if Ream was set to join Queens Park Rangers, who had reportedly made multiple attempts to land the versatile defender. Yet Fulham won out in the end.
“I’m more than pleased to be here,” Ream said. “It’s been a long time coming now, over the past week-and-a-half it’s gone back and forth so I’m glad its finally sorted. “
