AMSTERDAM – Bolton defensive handyman Tim Ream has scooped up the club's official Player of the Season award for the second straight year, matching the double he earned last week for winning consecutive MVP honors from the supporters.
The 27-year-old US international has started in all 43 of his Championship appearances this term, working everywhere along the back line at some point, and in defensive midfield. For the season, Ream has rung up 157 clearances, 106 pass interceptions and 96 tackles, while passing at a 77.8 percent rate and adding three assists.
"Winning this award once was a huge honor, but to do it twice, back-to-back, is beyond words and something that will always be a highlight of my career," he told the club website. "It would not have been possible without the team and the guys around me, though.
Speaking of his matching supporters' prize, Ream added, "It's an award that could have been given to a handful of other players too, but to be chosen by the fans is truly something special."
By winning successive Player of the Season awards, Ream joined former Fulham stars Clint Dempsey and Brian McBride as the only Americans to accomplish that feat in England.
